Program Overview:
CAMBA GARDENS Phase II is a 293 unit supportive/affordable housing development located in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. 182 of these units are set aside for formerly homeless individuals and families. 108 units are for Population A individuals, chronically homeless single adults who suffer from Serious and Persistent Mental Illness or who have a co-occurring Mental Illness and Chemical Addiction (MICA). 15 units are for Population H individuals, chronically homeless single adults who have a substance abuse disorder that is the barrier to independent living and who also have a disabling clinical condition. 24 units are for Population II chronically homeless families, in which the head of household suffers from a substance abuse disorder, a disabling medical condition or HIV/AIDS.
Position Overview:
The Recreation Aide will be responsible for planning, leading, and coordinating activities to ensure the utmost enjoyment for participants. The Recreation Aides’ goal is to create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters both physical and emotional well-being.

Maintain professional relationships with clients, staff, vendors/consultants, property management and compliance with HIPPA regulations.

Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.

Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.

Assist with the teaching of physical education, arts and crafts, performing arts, music, sports, ADL or other recreational activities.

Help plan, coordinate and facilitate social and/or peer support events for clients, including offs-site trips.

Organize, and co-facilitate group community activities

Assist with the design and production of aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter which reflect cultural, seasonal and programmatic themes.

At least 3 on a daily basis

Communicate effectively with clients, CAMBA staff, community members and with funders.

Track and keep records of equipment and supplies used.

Ensure that recreation facilities and equipment are used properly.

Monitor clients' progress during recreational activities and document via email, forms, etc.

Market the program in order to recruit clients.

Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

Prepare marketing materials for the program, such as flyers.

Create and maintain files for calendar, group/event attendance, and required reports.

Input client data and client progress information into automated database.
Education, Licenses and/or Certifications Required:

High school diploma or G.E.D. and/or equivalent experience.
Minimum Experiences and Skills Required:
- Experience developing and coordinating recreational activities that reinforce a client’s desire to lead a clean/sober/independent life with a non-profit or other organization that services special needs or related populations.
Preferred Qualifications:

Must be fingerprinted and obtain Criminal History Checks” (CHC) with Justice Center for the Protection of Vulnerable People with Special Needs.

Ability to maintain fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.

As a Mandated Reporter, you must immediately report suspected incidents/cases of abuse and neglect to the Vulnerable Persons Central Register (VPCR) Hotline at 1-855-373-2122 and complete a CAMBA Incident Report.
