Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Travel Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This specialized role involves providing expert nursing care to critically ill newborns and premature infants in a neonatal intensive care setting, often across multiple locations on a travel basis. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, including neonatal resuscitation procedures, ventilator management, and advanced patient assessment skills. 1 year experience BLS - Required RN License - Required NRP - Required RNC-NIC - Preferred
7p - 7a Must have at least 2 years of travel experience. Must have Level 3/Level 4 exp.
Duties
- Deliver comprehensive neonatal nursing care, including vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, and assessment of neonatal physiology.
- Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, ventilator support, and oxygen therapy following strict aseptic techniques.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation procedures and manage airway emergencies in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for neonates with complex medical needs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations, specimen collection, and processing to support ongoing clinical assessments.
- Educate families on neonatal care practices, discharge planning, and developmental milestones to promote long-term health outcomes.
- Ensure infection control standards are rigorously followed in all patient interactions and clinical procedures.
- Participate in emergency response efforts within the NICU, including trauma medicine and acute pain management.
- Support hospital initiatives related to quality improvement standards such as NCQA standards and ICD coding accuracy.
Experience
- Proven ICU or PICU experience with neonates or infants is required; experience working within a Level I or Level II trauma center is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in neonatal resuscitation procedures, ventilator management, and critical care protocols.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for medical documentation and patient record management.
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory; flexibility to adapt to various healthcare settings is essential.
- Strong knowledge of neonatal physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology relevant to intensive care nursing.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special healthcare needs is advantageous.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, laboratory procedures, and specimen processing relevant to neonatal care.
