Temp: Individualized Education Plan Spanish Translator
JOB SUMMARY
Provides parents with accurate IEP translations from English to Spanish within 30 days of their request.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews the IEP documents to ensure proper translation has been made. Using the AACPS web based IEP system, uses existing web based software to translate IEP documents. Completes the translations within 30 days.
- Keeps a record of the IEPs that are translated, tracking specified data.
- Prepare and send completed translations to parents and complete documentation with the web based system
- Assist with identifying translation programming needs.
- Attend monthly meetings to review translation findings and to collaborate on system improvements.
Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate
- Associate's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
- Experience in interpretation or translation required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Understanding of the special education and IEP process
- Ability to interact effectively with students, staff and parents.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Language Requirements
- Bilingual/Biliterate in speaking, writing, and reading English and Spanish native or near native required.
Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
