Byron Edwards & Lemley, APC, a law firm in downtown San Diego, is looking for a litigation attorney to join our fast-paced team. Our firm specializes in defense of design professionals including architects and engineers in construction disputes. If chosen as the successful candidate, you will be responsible for case management, discovery, making appearances in court (virtually and/or in person as the court may require), and assisting in matters, including trials.

Responsibilities:
- Handling cases from initial intake including meeting with clients and project file review.
- Providing legal advice to clients, assessing the facts and issues of each scenario and counseling clients accordingly.
- Planning and executing a discovery plan, including case management orders.
- Appearing at depositions, hearings, and conferences, among others.
- Working with legal staff to ensure that all pre-trial motions, pleadings, and discovery documents are prepared and completed.
- Preparing documents including pleadings, letters, status updates, stipulations, and the like based on client needs.
- Propounding and responding to discovery, depositions, and motions; preparing trial briefs.
- Assisting with trial preparation.
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- J.D. and active California Bar license
- 2 to 4 years of law & motion experience, trial experience helpful
- Knowledge of construction defect law
- Knowledge of civil procedure, trial procedure and evidence code.
- Strong oral advocacy and writing skills
- Ability to work with people in a collaborative work environment.
Position is full-time, exempt, in-office. Business hours are 8:30am-5:00pm Monday- Friday.
