Your Career
We currently have an opening in our Atchison, Kansas office for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our Structural Engineering team in the role of .
The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, analysis, and development of high-quality prestressed spun concrete poles collaborating closely with technicians and production teams to support successful product development. This opportunity is well-suited for an individual who thrives in a collaborative environment, exercises strong technical judgment, and is motivated by contributing to effective engineering solutions. This person will be an integral member of a structural engineering team that supports multiple divisions across the company.
This role will involve spending approximately 50% of the time in the plant and 50% of the time in the office.
Your Impact
- Liaising between Application Engineering and Production, providing valuable feedback on feasibility, ease of manufacturing, and potential improvements to design for better production outcomes.
- Performing structural analysis of prestressed concrete poles in accordance with applicable industry codes, standards, and company design methodologies.
- Developing, maintaining, and validating engineering calculation tools, spreadsheets, and automated design aids used for structural analysis, capacity calculations, and design optimization.
- Interpreting and applying relevant design codes and standards, ensuring all analytical methods, calculations, and products meet regulatory and customer requirements.
- Analyzing and optimizing production processes to ensure efficient and timely concrete manufacturing, while maintaining high quality standards.
- Conducting in-depth analysis to determine underlying causes of scrap and off quality issues.
- Evaluating and optimizing concrete mix designs to achieve performance, durability, and production goals, working with Quality Control (QC) to assess results and implement improvements.
- Managing engineering change notices, ensuring that any modifications are smoothly integrated into the production process with minimal to no disruption.
- Leading destructive testing programs, analysing test results, and correlating findings with design assumptions and analysis programs.
- Collaborating with other Manufacturing Engineers at other locations to standardize and discuss process improvements, share information, and partake in training & development.
- Occasionally conducting off-site pole inspections to ensure products meet quality standards and performance expectations.
Your Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering combined with minimum 3 years experience with concrete design/manufacturing.
- Professional Engineering licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure is preferred.
- Strong understanding of reinforced and prestressed concrete behavior, structural analysis, strength of materials, beam theory, and engineering mechanics.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying relevant design codes and standards (CSA, ACI, AASHTO, ASTM, or equivalent).
- Experience developing engineering tools using Excel, VBA, Mathcad, or similar analysis and automation software is considered a strong asset.
- Extensive training and proficiency in AutoCAD
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Accountable and results driven, with a strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with MS Office Suite of products.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
