OVERVIEW: Camp Counselors are responsible for the overall supervision of campers with the aim of providing a healthy, safe, and enjoyable camp environment and experience. A good Camp Counselor often has strong leadership and is creative in planning and implementing programs and activities for campers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and oversee camper activities.

Guide and teach a range of outdoor activities (hiking, swimming, boating, etc.)

Ensure camper safety and monitor their activities.

Set up and ensure recreation equipment is secure and stored properly.

Supervise campers during meals.

Instruct campers in daily routines and cleanup tasks.

Follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines.

Work one-on-one with campers

Instruct and organize camper projects (arts and crafts, dramatics, etc.)

May perform administrative tasks (filing, record keeping, etc.) as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- High school degree or equivalent; Associate's degree, or two (2) years or more of full-time college coursework equivalent preferred

First aid and CPR training and certification
- Previous experience as a counselor-in-training, teacher, childcare, or related field

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

Encouraging to campers and patient when instructing

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
The Camp Counselor reports directly to the Club General Manager but works somewhat autonomously and in partnership with other Camp Counselors.

- Mental Demands: Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under pressure.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; climbing, stretching, frequent light lifting of books, boxes; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds; frequent use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
- Regulated air temperature and humidity in gym facilities and office environment, however, temperatures and humidity may be elevated while group and personal exercise activities are being performed.

Regular standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and other physical activity are required while performing the duties of the role.

Noise level is likely to fluctuate as children attending camp become excited.
