Summary:
The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the company’s sourcing and supplier management strategy to ensure cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and strong supplier performance. This role drives strategic alignment between procurement activities and business objectives by developing supplier partnerships, mitigating risk, and optimizing total cost of ownership. The Procurement Manager is accountable for supplier outcomes, including quality, delivery, and pricing, while enabling operational execution across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support business growth, cost reduction, and supply chain resilience
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to enhance capabilities, capacity, and competitiveness
- Build and maintain strong, performance-driven supplier relationships
- Lead supplier performance management, including quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost metrics
Risk Management
- Proactively identify supply risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect project timelines and business operations
- Maintain visibility to critical supply commitments and ensure early escalation of potential disruptions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to align procurement strategies with project and production requirements
- Serve as the primary escalation point for supplier-related issues impacting cost, schedule, or quality
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop the purchasing team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and capability development
- Establish priorities, assign work, and ensure alignment of team activities with strategic objectives
- Drive a culture of accountability, proactive problem-solving, and continuous improvement within the procurement function
Transactional Purchasing Support
- Support day-to-day purchasing activities as needed, including quoting, purchase order execution, expediting, issue resolution, and ERP system transactions
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear; uses hands to handle or feel objects. Occasional bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
Education:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
Experience
- Must have 6+ years of experience in procurement within an engineering and manufacturing environment
- Must have 5+ years of experience managing supplier relationships and sourcing fabricated components and assemblies
- Must have 4+ years of experience prior experience leading and developing teams
Skills
- Must have strong strategic sourcing and supplier management capability
- Must have advanced negotiation and cost analysis skills
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
- Must have strong organizational and prioritization capabilities across multiple projects
- Must be proficient in ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and Microsoft Office tools
- Must have the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
- Must have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and how procurement requests impact shop floor execution
Travel
Up to 20%, including potential international travel
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
