Job Title: Esther Prangley Rice Art Gallery Attendant

Rate of Pay: Maryland Minimum Wage
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
Location of Position: Peterson Hall, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157
Duration of Appointment: August 5, 2026 to May 25, 2027
Schedule: Schedule is at discretion of supervisor
Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuous basis.
Scope: The Gallery Attendant answers phone calls, greets gallery visitors, and shares knowledge of the gallery and exhibition. For opening receptions, some setup and cleanup are required. Situational awareness of gallery security is required.
Responsibilities:
- Must ensure the Gallery is staffed by self or authorized employee throughout duration of shift. The Gallery must be staffed and attended at all times.
- Answer phones and take messages.
- Greet visitors.
- knowledge of the gallery and exhibitions.
- Set up and clean up is required for opening receptions.
Schedule:
- 2 to 8 hours per week.
- Availability to cover the lunch hour in the Rice Gallery.
- Available hours on some Thursday evenings from 5:30PM to 7:30PM
- Available hours on some Saturday afternoons from 12:00PM to 5:00PM.
- Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College.
