Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to assess visual acuity, eye health, and overall ocular function
- Diagnose and manage common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and refractive errors, utilizing your knowledge of ophthalmology principles
- Prescribe corrective lenses and contact lenses tailored to each patient’s needs, ensuring optimal visual performance
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options, fostering a positive patient experience through excellent customer service
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care, especially when managing pediatric or complex cases
- Stay current with advancements in optometry, ophthalmology, medical terminology, and anatomy to provide the highest standard of care
Requirements
- Valid North Carolina licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology practices, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to eye health
- Experience working with modern optical equipment and understanding of optical prescriptions and sales processes
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and medical coding practices
- Ability to perform vital signs assessments and aseptic techniques during examinations or procedures
- Excellent patient care skills combined with customer service orientation to create a welcoming environment for diverse populations
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
Pay: $140,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
