Job description:
Full-Time Dog Daycare Attendant
$15.00 – $16.50 per hour + Performance-Based Raises
From The Heart Dog Services – Royal Oak, MI
In-Person | Full-Time (35–40 hours/week)
About Us
From The Heart Dog Services is a structured dog training and behavior program in Royal Oak dedicated to building calm, confident dogs through clear leadership, consistent boundaries, daily exercise, and relationship-based training.
Our trainer-led daycare is not traditional free-play daycare. It is a purposeful, structured environment that gives dogs the guidance and outlets they need to succeed — especially dogs that thrive with calm energy and clear rules. We’re building a team of passionate professionals who take pride in creating a safe, organized, and truly positive space for dogs and their owners.
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, full-time Daycare Attendant who loves working hands-on with dogs and values structure, calm leadership, and doing dog care the right way. This active role is perfect for someone who wants to develop professional dog-handling skills while making a real difference in dogs’ daily lives and long-term behavior.
If you’re patient, observant, physically active, and committed to high standards, this is an excellent opportunity to grow with a purpose-driven team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with structured daycare routines: group activities, rest periods, smooth transitions, and pack walks
- Supervise and guide dogs during structured group time while reinforcing calm behavior
- Manage dog drop-offs, pick-ups, and daily communication with clients
- Closely observe dog behavior and report any concerns to the lead trainer
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized facility (crates, yards, floors, play areas)
- Support feeding schedules, water access, and medication administration as needed
- Help ensure safe, efficient daily operations and a positive environment for every dog
What We’re Looking For
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Comfortable and confident handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Reliable, punctual, and available on weekends (peak days currently include Tuesday–Thursday + weekends)
- Physically fit — able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and stay active for full shifts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions consistently
- Comfortable in a loud, active environment with barking dogs
- Reliable transportation to Royal Oak, MI
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred / A Plus:
- Previous professional dog experience (daycare, boarding, or training, grooming, veterinary, etc.)
- Passion for structured, relationship-based training methods
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record
We provide thorough, hands-on training to the right motivated candidate — no prior experience is required if you have the right attitude and work ethic.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-Time: 35–40 hours per week
- Shifts include mornings, afternoons, and full days (training covers opening and closing)
- Pay: $15.00 – $16.50 per hour to start, with regular performance reviews and raise opportunities
- Strong performers can grow into more hours, full-time leadership, or training roles as we expand
Benefits
- 401(k) with company matching
- Employee discount
- Paid time off
- Ongoing professional development and on-the-job training
