The primary responsibility of the Controls Engineer is to manage all aspects of lighting controls design from system take-off through submittal creation and construction support. The Controls Engineer will utilize technical understanding of manufacturer specific lighting controls components to create designs that meet the needs of particular projects, are compliant with energy codes and are reliably functional for the life of the facility. Strong attention to detail, organization and the ability to explain complex system concepts in layman’s terms are essential to success in this role.

Summary of essential job functions:
- Create lighting control submittal drawings utilizing AutoCAD, Bluebeam and manufacturer’s proprietary software.
- Review electrical engineering drawings and create material takeoffs to meet the design intent for particular projects.
- Provide drawings and lighting control expertise to the sales department and customers.
- Support, provide design assistance and controls education to specifiers and other customers
- Create construction drawings detailing all aspects of control system installation and programming.
- Assist contractors and field technicians to ensure a functional and code complaint lighting control system installation.
- Advance the design process of the controls department through drawing standard creation and the use of new technologies. Adapt controls designs to feedback received from field technicians.
- Self-educate on the latest in code requirements driving lighting controls design. Keep abreast of the latest in available products and utilize them to meet the requirements of particular projects.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of AutoCAD design experience or relevant training.
- Electrical (NEC), Energy Conservation (IECC) and ASHRAE code knowledge.
- Experienced in utilizing Bluebeam software to complete material counts and takeoffs.
- Strong computer skills with Windows based applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Customer service oriented approach.
· Construction, lighting, controls and/or electrical equipment experience preferred.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
