Lakeland Community College is seeking applicants for a Human Resources role that blends data manipulation with institutional knowledge. This position takes the lead in being an Ellucian Banner super user of the HR modules and interprets the full-time faculty collective bargaining agreement into a salary planning spreadsheet, annual faculty contracts, faculty assignment sheets, faculty pay and part-time faculty pay reports along other employee pay reports.
Responsibilities (Non-inclusive)
- Serve as a superuser for the college’s ERP (Ellucian Banner), creating and processing changes to electronic employee records comprising the human resources information system (HRIS). Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data input and reports.
- Liaise with Payroll Department regarding compensation issues. Support Budget Department and HR regarding position cost and labor distribution.
- Ensure receipt of completed documents and forms required to create new electronic employee records, inputting personal information from documents provided by employees. Review documents for completeness, authenticity and compliance with internal and external rules and regulations.
- Review source documents (e.g., Personnel Action Reports), checking for required signatures and ensuring the information reflected complies with position approvals, board actions, salary schedules, contracts, policies for benefit accrual, etc. Identify and research discrepancies and make or return for corrections as needed.
- Respond to employees and supervisors with payroll questions/concerns and provide instruction for accurate completion of pay documents. Investigate and resolve payroll issues in cooperation with Payroll Department staff.
- Manage a spreadsheet that reflects annual changes in collective bargaining agreement salary schedules, develop annual contracts, along with faculty assignment sheets (FAS) and the part-time faculty pay system (FLAC)
- Promote proactive approaches using the Banner HRIS system to solve needs. Based on need, negotiate priorities and support requirements with IT, HR, PR, Finance and Budget departments.
- Participate in position control/management in the HRIS system, which defines positions, monitors and maintains position history and incumbent history in support of Human Resources and Budget Department objectives in addition to facilitating reporting and surveys.
- Design and create periodic and ad hoc reports that extract meaningful data to enable appropriate operational and strategic decisions.
- May provide training and assistance to HR staff and other Banner users in system’s processes and report writing.
- Review budget spreadsheet to assign job position numbers, create new position numbers and position classes as needed, cancel inactive positions and amend labor distributions; monitor data for working above class assignments within salary ranges each fiscal year.
- Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resource management. Identify trends that could affect organizational objectives and/or operational resources. Interpret appropriate laws and policies and advise management, employees and retirees accordingly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Training and Experience Required/Preferred
- Associate degree and/or five or more years of experience as HRIS user with broad understanding of HR functions, policies, legal requirements and objectives.
- Requires functional understanding of HRIS database and office software systems such as Excel and Access, and general knowledge of the college budget structure and payroll processes.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job is acceptable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of HR policies; working knowledge of HRIS, EXCEL and Access.
- Skill and experience in building reports; interpersonal and organizational skills; and in following oral and written instructions,
- Skill and accuracy with data entry, strict adherence to confidentiality of HRIS data, and ability to identify unique situations and recommend solutions.
- Ability to work under pressure, have extreme attention to detail and handle large volumes of work during peak times, ability to use independent judgment for resolution of problems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in cooperative effort within HR department, with budget, financial services and various other college departments and in support of college management team.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This is a full-time, continuing, non-exempt staff position.
- The hourly salary is at grade 9A of the staff salary schedule at a rate of $27.40-$35/hr.
- Please note: The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within the minimum to the mid-point of the salary range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
