Specialty Pharmacy Technician
About the job
Responsible for assisting in the operation of a centralized Medically Integrated Pharmacy for a multi-site, multi-specialty oncology practice. Assist with dispensing medications according to professional standards and practices. Prepares and maintains all necessary records for prescriptions, patient charges, and inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide great patient service, including working closely with financial counselors and nurses in providing patient care
- Verify and enter patient information into PioneerRx
- Adjudicate prescription claims
- Complete prescription fulfillment
- Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of Personal Health Information (PHI) as required by HIPAA
- Inventory management
- Supply management
- Prior authorizations
- Maintenance and upkeep of facility
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Assist Pharmacist in maintaining cost efficiency for patients via patient assistance foundations and manufacturer programs; keep them informed on any changes/updates in dispensing products or process
Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- 2 years retail or hospital pharmacy experience
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
- Critical thinking skills necessary to assist pharmacy operations
- Knowledge of benefit plans and patient assistance programs
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
- North Carolina Pharmacy Technician Licensure
- Microsoft Office competency
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, and reach overhead and side to side throughout 8-hour shift
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty Pharmacy experience
- Knowledge of URAC and ACHC accreditation standards
- Oncology experience

- Monday to Thursday 7:45am-4:30pm
- Friday 7:45am-1:00pm
