Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Duration: 3+ months (Extendable)
Location: Morristown, NJ
Shift: 3-11pm shift Monday to Friday
Pay rate : $33-$35/hr.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and patient care equipment while ensuring compliance with infection prevention and sterilization standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, and packaging of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Operate steam sterilizers and other sterilization equipment according to established protocols.
- Prepare and assemble case carts for surgical procedures.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness.
- Process and maintain orthopedic and neurosurgical instrument sets.
- Maintain accurate documentation using an instrument tracking system (ABACUS/Microsystems experience preferred).
- Follow all hospital policies, infection control, and safety standards.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and organization of sterile supplies.
- Stand for extended periods and safely lift or push instrument trays and sterilization carts as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience.
- Strong knowledge of decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and surgical instrument processing.
- Experience with Orthopedic and Neurosurgical instruments is required.
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and effectively.
- Basic computer skills; experience with instrument tracking systems is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of Sterile Processing experience.
- Experience with ABACUS or Microsystems instrument tracking systems.
- CBSPD certification is a plus.
