Qualifications
- Passion for education and engaging diverse groups of youth
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred (Education; Child Development; or related field)
- Recorded experience supporting children in reading/literacy and child development
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Self-motivated with a creative, problem-solving mindset
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, small-group literacy instruction for K–8 students
- Tailor lessons to meet individual reading needs
- Support and guide volunteer Reading Coaches
- Build relationships with families and provide at-home reading strategies
- Monitor progress using assessments and track student growth
- Collaborate with HIKE staff and partners to strengthen program outcomes
- Represent the organization with professionalism and positivity
Position Details
- Location: This position is at an Affordable Housing Community in Kansas City Metro
- Schedule: Mon–Thurs, 1:30–6:00 p.m. Friday hours are flexible (22 hrs/week)
- Additional: Occasional evenings/weekends for family events
- Pay: Starting at $20/hour (based on experience/education)
