About the Position
Reporting to the Dean of Student Life, the Residential Education Coordinator for New Student Communities (REC-NS) is responsible for the planning and implementation of residential education for our new students (first-years and transfers) in concert with Customs, the College’s unique first-year residential curriculum. The REC-NS plays a key role in shaping the Haverford residential experience through oversight and support of the College’s live-in student staff model (Residential Community Advisors or RCAs). As such, the REC-NS lives in campus housing as part of the role and is provided a furnished, one-bedroom apartment.
The REC-NS partners with the REC for Returning Student Communities (REC-RS) to create and sustain a residential education program that encourages student and community engagement while developing a supportive living and learning environment.
Providing coordination and support for all aspects of residential life, both operational and programmatic, the position provides a unique opportunity to promote and foster student development within the College’s student self-governance and Honor Code-based residential living structure. The goal of the position is to build a more robust community-oriented experience for students, encourage co-curricular learning to develop a more holistic student, and foster a high level of safety, satisfaction, and well-being for all residents.
