Instruction may occur in classrooms, training facilities, and outdoor training areas. The environment may include exposure to noise, weather conditions, and physical exertion consistent with fire and rescue training activities.
Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Requires the ability to operate a variety of types of office, instructional, and equipment. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work. Requires the ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, reach, or grasp for an extended period of time.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
- Stand, walk, and move for extended periods during classroom and practical training sessions
- Demonstrate fire, rescue, and emergency response techniques, including lifting, carrying, dragging, and maneuvering equipment and training props
- Frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more during training demonstrations
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach in training environments
- Use hands and arms to operate tools, equipment, and training devices
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to heat, cold, wet conditions, smoke, and other elements consistent with fire and rescue training scenarios
- Possess adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities to instruct students, observe performance, and maintain safety
