American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry & Urology unit, requiring at least 2 years of experience and a valid NH or compact RN license for a 13-week night shift assignment.

Work is performed on a 48-bed Med/Surg unit (E200) with an average census of 27 patients, located within a main hospital building
-
Patient population includes medical/surgical, telemetry, and urology cases, including postoperative patients
-
Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights; PCTs are assigned at approximately 1:10–15
-
Unit support includes a unit secretary available 7a–11p and occasional 1:1 coverage via PCT or patient safety tech

Equipment includes Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finder
-
Documentation is completed in Altera/Allscripts Sunrise

Shift hours are 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights), with every other weekend required
-
Travelers float to like Med/Surg Telemetry units (D1, F2) and are generally prioritized for floating over staff

Active NH or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for telemetry RNs
-
Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or telemetry RN experience required
-
Proficiency in head-to-toe assessment and orthopedic care
-
Experience with IV medication administration including Lasix drip, heparin drip, IVP metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV and SubQ)
-
Wound care experience including drain management and wound VACs
-
Experience with NGT/G-tube care, parenteral nutrition, and central line management (PICC, HD catheter, midlines)
-
Experience with foley, nephrostomy, and suprapubic catheter care, as well as ostomy care
-
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required (two required for candidates residing in Florida or Missouri)

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) occur on day shift Monday–Friday from 10:30–11:00/11:15 AM; night shift staff may be expected to participate during handoff

Scrubs and closed-toe shoes are required; Crocs are not permitted

The unit is part of the HCA Healthcare system; familiarity with HCA practices is a plus
-
The team is described as highly collaborative with strong staff retention and an active Unit Practice Council (UPC) that meets monthly
-
The facility is newly integrated into the HCA family
