Reliability Engineer – Manufacturing | Knoxville, TN
Our client, a growing manufacturer in the plastics sector, is seeking a hands-on Reliability Engineer to lead and build the reliability program at their Knoxville-area facility. This is a high-impact position where you’ll work directly on the plant floor to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and drive long-term operational results.

To be considered for this role, you must have 2 to 5 years of experience in reliability engineering or maintenance engineering within manufacturing, a 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering related discipline, and reside in or relocate to the Knoxville, TN area.
What You’ll Do
Lead and develop the plant’s reliability program to support safe, efficient, and compliant operations
Partner with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintainability
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives and implement long-term corrective actions
Design, implement, and continuously improve:
Preventive maintenance (PM) programs
Predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies
Condition monitoring and non-destructive testing methods
Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement solutions that improve:
Production capacity
Product quality
Operating costs
Safety and regulatory compliance
Provide technical support during routine and critical equipment issues
Develop and deliver training programs to strengthen maintenance team capabilities
Support reliability improvements across:
Production equipment
Utilities and facilities
Controls and safety systems
What You Bring (Must-Haves)
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
2–5 years of experience in one or more of the following:
Reliability Engineering
Maintenance Engineering
Manufacturing equipment support
Strong experience with:
Root cause analysis (RCA)
Preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Hands-on troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment
Comfortable working directly on the plant floor
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
Nice to Have
Previous experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Technician, or Manager
Experience in plastics or continuous manufacturing environments
Compensation & Benefits
$85,000 – $95,000 base salary (commensurate with experience)
