What You'll Do
As a Mechanic, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of wastewater treatment operations by:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, blowers, valves, piping systems, and other plant equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximize uptime and equipment life.
- Respond to maintenance issues quickly and safely to minimize operational disruptions.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Diagnose mechanical failures and identify root causes.
- Work closely with operators and technical teams to resolve equipment and process issues.
- Support continuous improvement efforts that increase reliability and efficiency.
Installation & Upgrades
- Assist with installation, testing, startup, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Recommend repairs, replacements, and upgrades that improve system performance.
Documentation & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and repair documentation.
- Utilize CMMS software, including MaintainX, to track work orders and equipment history.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and assist with procuring critical maintenance supplies.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Ensure mechanical systems operate in compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
- Properly use PPE and maintain a safe work environment.
Team Support
- Provide equipment guidance to plant operators.
- Participate in ongoing training and skill development.
- Support special projects, facility improvements, and emergency repair efforts as needed.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, piping systems, and industrial mechanical equipment.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience in wastewater treatment, food processing, manufacturing, or similar industrial operations.
- Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with MaintainX.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
Work Environment
This role is based at an industrial wastewater treatment facility and requires working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather and plant conditions. Team members may be exposed to:
- Industrial equipment and machinery
- Noise and vibrations
- Wastewater treatment processes
- Chemicals and treatment products
- Odorous environments
Appropriate PPE is provided and required.

Compensation: Starting pay is based on qualifications, experience, education, location, market conditions, and internal equity considerations.
