Duties
- Greet customers warmly, listen carefully to their vehicle concerns, and document their needs accurately.
- Write detailed service estimates using estimating software, incorporating mechanical knowledge of transmissions, brakes, suspension, tires, shocks & struts, oil changes, air brakes, alignments, and collision repairs.
- Communicate repair recommendations clearly to customers, explaining necessary repairs and optional services with transparency.
- Upsell additional maintenance or repair services by highlighting benefits such as vehicle safety and performance improvements.
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services like automotive diagnostics and mechanical repairs.
- Handle cash transactions securely and maintain accurate records of all service sales and parts used.
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and promote repeat business through excellent client communication.
- Perform NYS vehicle inspections as necessary.
Experience
- Driver's License (Required)
- NYS Inspector License (Required)
- Proven experience in automotive service writing or auto service management within a dealership or independent shop environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems including transmissions, oil changes, tire service, suspension work, brake repair, shocks & struts, alignment, and collision repair.
- Familiarity with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools.
- Previous experience working with service technicians on diagnosing issues using automotive diagnostics tools.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and transparency.
