We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Specialist with expertise in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and counseling services to join our team. Duties
- Review and process medical claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure precise billing for ABA and counseling services
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and authorizations prior to billing to minimize claim denials
- Submit clean claims electronically through EMR (Electronic Medical Record) or EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems, tracking status updates regularly
- Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to facilitate timely collections
- Maintain detailed medical records, including documentation of services provided, diagnoses, procedures, and billing codes
- Ensure compliance with all medical billing regulations and industry standards while safeguarding patient confidentiality
Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology
- Experience with medical billing processes within ABA or counseling practices
- Proficiency in using Rethink/Tebra EMR/EHR systems for claims submission and record management
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper coding and billing purposes
- Familiarity with medical collection procedures and insurance reimbursement workflows
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure error-free billing documentation
- Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, providers, and patients
