American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) travel position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, night shift availability, and proficiency with IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery patients.

12-bed CVICU in an acute care hospital setting

Patient population includes AMI, CAD, and PVD diagnoses
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity

RNs are responsible for reading cardiac monitor strips; in-room Nihon Kohden monitors are used (no monitor techs)
-
RNs are required to titrate vasoactive and sedation drips including Dex, Propofol, Dopamine, Neo, Epi, Levo, Insulin, Cardene, and others
-
Respiratory therapy (vents, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, HiFlow) is available but not unit-specific

Charting is performed in Cerner

12-hour night shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule

Weekend requirement: 2 weekend shifts per pay period, which may fall on Friday or Saturday nights depending on unit needs

On-call/standby required per contract (max 3 per 12 weeks)

Floating required as needed based on skill set; may float to ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, or Tele on either campus

Travelers are floated first

Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
-
Experience with IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery (OHS) patients coming directly from the OR is required
-
Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract signing
-
Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (verified by driver's license)

Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered)

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration

Impella experience is desired but not required
-
Intensivists are in-house, with both charge nurse and house supervisor support available 24/7
-
A sterile technique competency test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation; this is a pass/fail assessment

Candidates who fail the Relias Dysrhythmia exam and/or the sterile technique test on the second attempt will be ineligible for CommonSpirit Arizona positions for 6 months

If traveling as a duo, each clinician must have their own vehicle and should not expect to share a schedule

Holiday coverage is required

Navy blue scrubs are required

Unit-specific orientation is provided (12 hours)

Time-off requests of less than 7 days and no holiday requests during the contract may be eligible for an expedited offer process
