Job brief
We are looking for a Transportation Supervisor to plan and coordinate our daily product shipments.
To succeed in this role, you should have a thorough knowledge of supply chain management and an understanding of warehouse procedures, including storing goods, dispatching orders, and tracking transportation vehicles. You should also be familiar with safety processes and legal regulations.
Ultimately, you will ensure that all shipments are handled quickly, safely and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise the shipments from production to the end-user.
- Executes the planning process within the current TMS (Transportation Management) system.
- Works together with Customer Service and the warehouse to create, refine, sustain, and execute business rules to make sure loads are shipped efficiently and on-time.
- Align, develop, and appraise drivers to achieve maximum safety and efficiency.
- Prioritize the delivery route and status of field units to coordinate and optimize driver schedule.
- Ensure DOT and OSHA rules and regulations are followed.
- Supervise DOT compliance using Driver Management Compliance software.
- Maintaining a list of available equipment.
- Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment.
- Provide field units with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements.
- Address sales & customer concerns as they arise effectively and promptly.
- Ensures drivers accurately complete all company required documentation.
- Follow documented processes for reporting, analyzing, and following up on employee injuries and accidents.
- Takes part in Route Driver training, onboarding/recruiting process.
- Ensures employees complete a daily pre/post-trip and reviews daily.
- Works with Corporate and Transportation Managers to review fleet and distribution performance.
- Review and arrange all transportation paperwork inclusive of driver logs, DVIR’s, and trip reports.
- Monitor commercial drivers’ Hours of Service and maintain DOT compliance.
- Conduct regular safety audits on equipment.
- Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation.
- Stay up to date with safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven work experience in transportation
- Solid knowledge of supply chain management
- Experience preparing and tracking orders
- Familiarity with logistics software
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to supervise and train staff
- Problem-solving abilities
- High school diploma
- BSc in Supply Chain, Logistics is preferred but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
