PERSONAL POOL MANAGEMENT LIFEGUARD

Lifeguard Responsibilities & Requirements:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Adhere & enforce all NYS safety regulations & pool rules within the aquatic facility. While aiming to prevent hazardous situations.
- Conduct pool chemical testing as required to maintain safe bathing conditions for all patrons.
- Provide supervision to all patrons within pool facility.
- Handle & maintain First Aid & CPR equipment & perform first aid techniques when needed.
- Serve as a liaison to patrons, emergency personal, facility personnel during normal operations and emergency situations.
- Perform daily maintenance of facility which includes but are not limited to (vacuum pool/ skim pool/ setup chairs/safety checklist /interact with patrons/chemical testing/enforce entry procedures)
General Outline of Day:
- Enter pool facility
- Clock In via system & retrieve keys.
- Enter filter room, ensure pump/chemical feed units/heater are operating
- Ensure there are no leaks/puddles & there is viable chemical supply in filter room
- Retrieve all poolside materials & lifeguard materials
- Test pool chemistry to ensure within range
- Ensure pool furniture is set
- Setup lifeguard station
- Vacuum pool if needed
- Skim pool/ clean skimmers as needed.
- Supervise patrons and maintain pool chemistry throughout day.
- End of shift stage furniture, store materials, close up facility.
- Send any messages to office & clock out.

Requirements
- Current Life guarding certification / Ability to certify
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision
- Ability to lead and motivate staff
- Available to work weekends/holidays
- Self Transportation
Knowledge of:
CPR, First Aid & Lifeguard.
Ability to:
-Alertly observe and analyze public safety situations and determine appropriate course of action & apply medical care at the basic life support level;
-maintain personal physical endurance and agility.
Physical Demands:
-While performing the duties of this class, an employee is frequently required to run, swim, paddle and walk long distances; stand and sit for long periods; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear both in person from close and long distances and by phone or radio; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate lifesaving equipment; and drive a vehicle.
-The employee regularly lifts, pushes or pulls persons or equipment over 20 pounds.
-Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, use of both eyes, ability to distinguish basic colors and shades; depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
