Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation standards.
- Support residents during community outings or transportation needs with personal transportation assistance.
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, resident progress, and incident reports in accordance with privacy standards such as HIPAA.
- Engage residents through meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation, especially for those with dementia or neurodevelopmental disorders like autism.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully and respond appropriately to their needs.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care techniques, and hospice or palliative care practices.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays including intellectual disabilities support.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or HIPAA training are advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper patient transfer methods; manual handling skills are essential.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
