Job Title: Radiation Therapy Aide
Department: Radiation Therapy Oncology
Location: Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine-3400 Civic Center Blvd
Hours: Mon-Fri office hours
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Radiation Therapy Manager, the Radiation Therapy Aide is a non-licensed, non-clinical role that provides support to the following areas: Proton Therapy, Photon Therapy, Simulation/Imaging/High Dose Rate Brachytherapy. The role is responsible for providing excellence in customer service and patient care while expediting patient throughput.
Accountabilities:

Supports patients with wayfinding, particularly navigating to and from Radiation Oncology CT Simulation, machine vaults and/or procedural spaces, notifies appropriate members of the care team of patient arrival and communicates movement of patients within the facility.

Troubleshoots to resolve patient and family member needs by escalating questions or concerns to appropriate members of the department or health system.

Assists with preparing simulation or treatment rooms under the direction of Radiation Therapists.

Completes cleaning tasks utilizing OSHA standards. Performs maintenance and/or inventory of equipment according to unit/department standards.

Practices standard precautions while handling contaminated items.

Assists in getting patients changed/dressed prior to their simulation or treatment.

Assists patients with scheduling questions.

Documents information in the EMR in an accurate and timely manner, according to the department/unit standards.

Stocks supplies to meet the needs of the unit/department.

Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures

Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
Education or Equivalent Experience:

H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
-
Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program within 5 years of hire

Associate of Arts or Science Preferred
Skills and Abilities:
