Where do you fit in?
The Stormwater and Business Development Engineer reports directly to the VP, Engineering Services. The VP is available for advising, training, brainstorming on projects, and assistance with anything outside of projects. The VP will assign projects but the Stormwater and Business Development Engineer is responsible for managing each project, delegating work to Project Engineers or Interns as appropriate, and ensuring all deliverables are checked for quality and approved by the EVP by EOB. The Stormwater and Business Development Engineer is expected to assist with the development of project proposals as requested by the VP. As part of the proposal writing process, the Stormwater and Business Development Engineer will identify and project tasks and estimate the hours needed to complete these tasks. They will write a detailed project scope for inclusion in the proposal. When managing projects the Stormwater and Business Development Engineer is responsible for managing the tasks of the project, the people of the project, and the overall communication between employees, Clients, and the VP, Engineering Services.
Essential Job Functions:
- Become familiar with each project’s background, location, existing issues or project politics
- Provide mentorship on hydraulic modeling to existing staff and help grow team’s capacity in that project area
- Identify the right staff for each part of the project and assign tasks
- Perform design and engineering tasks for the project
- Set or abide by milestone dates for project tasks that meet the deadline provided for in the scope
- Perform the role of “Designer” or “Checker” as part of the Quality Control Program
- Provide project updates both internal and external
- Update the project budget for monthly invoicing
- Evaluate the status of each project vs. the work completed
- Advise Project Manager of any evidence of budget slips, scope creep, or schedule issues
- Maintain project change and issue logs
Business Development – not to exceed 25% of the role – responsible for assisting the VP and other staff with:
- Prospect for new clients and projects
- Prepare proposals
- Prepare and perform presentations for new clients
- Assist to develop or refine the marketing plan and strategies
- Assist in social networking, public outreach, and other efforts as requested
Other responsibilities:
- Follow through on problems that may compromise effective job performance by using appropriate chain of command

- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties in this job classification.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering degree
- 8+ years of project management and engineering experience
- P.E. License

Soft Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Software Packages:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Microstation
- SLAMM/Recarga
- HydroCAD, Bentley StormCAD, Inroads, or other hydrologic modeling software
- HEC-RAS, HSPF, or other hydraulic modeling software
- SWMM engine (EPA, PC, etc.)
- GIS and Other software as it becomes available or necessary
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
