Description:
Summary/Objective: The legal assistant will provide legal and administrative assistance to the legal department of the LDF Business Development Corporation (BDC). The Legal department has an expanding portfolio of responsibilities to the LDF BDC, a multimillion-dollar arm of the Lac Du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.
Essential Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

Organizing and maintaining filing system for the BDC Legal Department

Providing administrative support to the General Counsel.

Preparing proposed resolutions for the Council and/or the Board of Directors of the BDC complete with any necessary attachments.

Professional communication between the Legal Department and the other departments within the BDC.

Legal Research projects as assigned.

Creating and maintaining charts, tables, and databases tracking pertinent operational and legal information of BDC entities.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office
equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and copiers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a [Full-Time] position with [40] hours per week expected. Days of work are primarily [Monday-Friday], during hours of operation from [8:00 – 4:30PM]. Must attend all mandatory meetings and participate in trainings.
Travel: Occasional travel is expected for this position.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

Ability to type 50 wpm with accuracy.

2 Yrs. of Experience working with Microsoft Office and Outlook
-
2 Yrs. of Experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar role is required.

Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Associate degree or higher as a Paralegal or related field of study.
-
3+ Yrs. of Experience in a Law Office or other courtroom setting.
-
Experience with Westlaw or Lexis Nexis.
