Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Manager – Dental Lab
The Shipping and Receiving Manager oversees all inbound and outbound case logistics within the dental laboratory. This role ensures timely, accurate, and secure handling of dental cases, materials, and products between dental offices and the lab, while maintaining compliance with healthcare and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Operations
- Manage daily shipping and receiving activities for dental cases, prosthetics, and materials
- Ensure accurate tracking of cases from intake through final delivery
- Monitor turnaround times to meet client deadlines and service expectations
Receiving & Case Intake
- Oversee intake of incoming cases, ensuring proper documentation and prescription forms are complete
- Verify contents against work orders and report discrepancies or damages
- Ensure cases are properly logged into the lab management system
Shipping & Dispatch
- Supervise packaging and labeling of outgoing cases to ensure safe and compliant transport
- Verify completed cases match prescriptions and quality standards before shipment
Team Leadership
- Supervise and train shipping/receiving staff and drivers
- Assign daily tasks and monitor team performance
- Maintain a culture of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency
Inventory & Supplies
- Manage inventory of shipping materials (boxes, labels, impression bags, etc.)
- Coordinate ordering and restocking of supplies
- Track and manage reusable items such as case pans and trays
Communication
- Act as liaison between production departments, customer service, and delivery personnel
- Communicate with dental offices regarding case status, delays, or issues
- Resolve shipping discrepancies and customer concerns promptly
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics
- Experience in a dental lab or healthcare setting strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling casework
- Leadership and team management experience
- Familiarity with shipping software and tracking systems
- Basic understanding of dental terminology (preferred)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
