Mechanical Engineer – Plumbing Systems

About Us
We are a well-established plumbing contractor serving commercial and residential clients throughout the New York metropolitan area. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of plumbing and mechanical system projects from design through construction.
Responsibilities
- Design plumbing and mechanical systems for commercial and residential projects.
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
- Review architectural and engineering plans to ensure code compliance.
- Develop and review cost estimates for plumbing projects.
- Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, architects, and engineers.
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layouts.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, and value engineering.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide engineering support during construction.
- Conduct site visits as needed to verify existing conditions and monitor project progress.
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and national building codes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience required.
- Experience designing plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP is a plus.
- Strong understanding of plumbing codes, mechanical codes, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with plumbing contractors or MEP firms.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with estimating and project management processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and engineering software.
