Member Duties : The ETSU Veteran Access project seeks to strengthen educational attainment and economic stability for low-income student veterans by transforming how East Tennessee State University evaluates and applies military training, education, and experience toward academic credit. The VISTA member will develop standardized materials, strengthen advocacy with academic departments, and enhance use of the Tennessee Higher Education Service member Opportunity Portal to ensure transparent, statewide alignment of credit decisions. These efforts address a critical unmet need for veterans who are often low-income and face unique financial pressures while transitioning to civilian life, ultimately enabling ETSU to serve more beneficiaries, improve outcomes, and create a sustainable, evidence-based system that reduces poverty through increased degree attainment.
