Job Description
We are a busy civil litigation law firm seeking a Legal Assistant to assist attorneys with the day-to-day management of an active caseload.
This position requires frequent communication with clients, attorneys, insurance companies, and other parties. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for helping move cases forward, maintaining organized case files, obtaining and reviewing documents and records, tracking deadlines, following up on outstanding items, and assisting attorneys with litigation and administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable communicating with clients, and able to manage multiple cases and deadlines at the same time. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, follows through on assignments, and can identify what needs to be done without requiring constant direction.
This is a fast-paced position that requires strong communication and organizational skills. The successful candidate should be comfortable managing competing priorities and working closely with attorneys and other staff.
Requirements
- 1 year of legal assistant or law office experience prefered.
- Prior experience communicating directly with clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow up consistently on outstanding documents, records, and client requests
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and PDF documents
- Ability to learn and work within case management and document management systems
- Professional and friendly communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Reliable, organized, and dependable
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys
- Communicate with clients regarding documents, appointments, and general case-related matters
- Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic case files
- Request, obtain, and organize records and other case-related documents
- Assist with preparing correspondence, forms, and other legal documents
- Assist with discovery, including gathering documents and information from clients
- Review and organize incoming correspondence and documents
- Assist with calendaring deadlines, appointments, depositions, and meetings
- Coordinate scheduling with clients, attorneys, experts, vendors, and other parties
- Save, organize, and properly name documents within electronic files
- Assist with preparing document productions, exhibits, and other litigation materials
- Perform general administrative tasks, including scanning, filing, uploading, and downloading documents
- Provide support to attorneys and other staff as needed
Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
