Job Summary
The Operations Support Technician is a non-clinical position responsible for supporting daily EMS operations by assisting crews with equipment needs, unit readiness, supply restocking, and general operational support. This role helps ensure crews have the resources they need to begin and complete their shifts efficiently while maintaining organization and readiness within operational areas.
Hourly Pay Range: $15.00 - $19.00
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an operational support resource for medics and other field crews
- Assist staff with access to assigned equipment, storage areas, and company-issued resources
- Maintain records related to assigned equipment, storage access, and operational resources as directed
- Help maintain the medic locker room and ensure assigned locker areas remain organized
- Assist with equipment-related concerns and report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning items
- Deliver replacement equipment to crews as needed, including stretchers, stair chairs, radios, phones, or other approved equipment
- Assist crews with faulty stretcher, stair chair, or equipment issues and escalate unresolved concerns to the appropriate supervisor
- Assist with lift assists when requested and within company policy
- Troubleshoot basic radio and phone issues and escalate unresolved problems
- Restock ambulances and response units as crews come off shift
- Ensure trucks are properly stocked, clean, organized, and ready for the next crew
- Check supplies and equipment against company restocking standards
- Identify and report expired, low-stock, missing, or damaged supplies
- Assist with inventory control, supply rotation, and supply room organization
- Support crews with basic operational questions and needs
- Assist with paperwork, checklists, and documentation related to unit readiness, supplies, equipment, and locker assignments
- Communicate operational issues to the Operations Supervisor or appropriate leadership
- Help resolve routine day-to-day operational concerns
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in operational areas, including the medic room, supply areas, and fleet areas
- Complete other operational duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Prior EMS, healthcare, logistics, warehouse, fleet, dispatch, or operations support experience preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license required
- Clean driving record required
- Must be able to safely operate company vehicles as needed
- Must be reliable, dependable, and punctual
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
- Ability to remain calm and productive in stressful or fast-paced situations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to safely move, transport, and handle EMS equipment
- Ability to follow checklists, procedures, and company standards
- Comfortable working directly with field crews and supervisors
- Ability to lift, move, stock, and organize supplies and equipment as needed
- EMT certification not required
Work Environment
- Work is performed in the medic locker room, ambulance bay, supply room, fleet area, office areas, and occasionally in the field
- Regular interaction with medics, EMTs, dispatchers, supervisors, and other operational staff
- May require responding to crew equipment needs during active operations
- May require flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Exposure to typical EMS operational environments
- Position does not involve patient care or clinical decision-making
- May require standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving supplies or EMS equipment
