Position Summary
Private Staff Group is in search of an HR Manager to join a well-established insurance organization. The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions within the organization, serving as the primary resource for employee relations, compensation, benefits, compliance, and workforce planning. This position requires a seasoned HR professional with 10 to 20 years of experience who can operate independently across both strategic and administrative HR functions in a fast-paced, regulated environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who brings structure and consistency to the employee experience while remaining adaptable to the business's day-to-day needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution
Investigates and resolves employee complaints and workplace conflicts. Partners with managers on performance issues, including administration of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). Leads workplace investigations as required.
Compensation & Benefits Administration
Directs employees to ADP for benefits enrollment questions (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)). Supports annual salary planning and calculates merit increases (annual and prorated). Administers leave of absence programs (PFL, Disability) and general time-off policies. Monitors benefits eligibility for ACA compliance purposes.
Payroll Processing
Processes semi-monthly payroll and verifies employee timecards for accuracy prior to submission.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Manages full-cycle recruitment for open positions, including drafting and posting job descriptions, sourcing candidates, and conducting phone screens. Coordinates the interview process with hiring managers and drafts and issues offer letters. Manages new hire onboarding through both ADP and Workday platforms. Coordinates new hire paperwork, orientation scheduling, and business card ordering for new and existing staff.
HR Compliance & Recordkeeping
Maintains and updates the Employee Handbook on an annual basis. Ensures ongoing compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including required workplace postings. Maintains personnel files and employee records in accordance with retention requirements. Tracks completion of mandatory annual training, including Sexual Harassment Prevention. Responds to employment and job verification requests.
Workforce Planning & Scheduling
Monitors current staffing levels against business needs and forecasts future hiring requirements. Analyzes turnover and retention data to identify trends and recommend improvements. Builds quarterly staff schedules, including rotating Saturday coverage, and manages ongoing schedule updates.
Professional Licensing Compliance
Tracks license expiration dates for licensed staff and issues renewal reminders to maintain continuous compliance.
Required Qualifications
- 10 to 20 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably within insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry
- Working knowledge of ADP and Workday, or equivalent HRIS/payroll platforms
- Strong understanding of ACA compliance, leave administration, and employment law
- Demonstrated experience handling confidential and sensitive employee matters with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Prior experience in a standalone or lead HR role with minimal oversight

Pay: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
