Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the entire revenue cycle process for our commercial patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, coding, and claims submission. Duties
- Review and verify medical documentation, including medical records and encounter notes, to ensure completeness and accuracy for billing purposes
- Assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD-10 codes to procedures and diagnoses in compliance with coding standards
- Prepare and submit clean claims using billing software integrated with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, utilizing healthcare claims management practices to secure payments
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies and medical collections issues
- Maintain detailed records of all billing activities, claim submissions, adjustments, and collections in accordance with healthcare regulations
- Stay current with changes in health insurance policies, coding updates, and billing regulations to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding (including CPT coding), and healthcare claims management within a medical office setting
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems and medical terminology
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and billing software platforms used in healthcare environments
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex billing information clearly and professionally
- Demonstrated understanding of health insurance processes, including claim adjudication and appeals
- Prior experience working with medical records, medical coding standards, and insurance reimbursement procedures is highly preferred
