Job Summary
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drywall finishing, including taping, mudding, sanding, patching, skim coating, and preparing surfaces for paint. This role requires attention to detail, quality workmanship, and the ability to work efficiently on residential and commercial projects. The drywall finisher will be responsible for producing clean, smooth, professional finishes while maintaining a safe and organized job site.
Duties
- Finish drywall by applying tape, joint compound, and multiple coats of mud.
- Sand and smooth walls and ceilings to prepare surfaces for primer and paint.
- Repair cracks, holes, dents, and other drywall imperfections.
- Perform skim coating and texture matching when required.
- Inspect drywall surfaces for quality, consistency, and readiness for painting.
- Use hand tools, sanding tools, mixers, stilts, and other drywall finishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Protect surrounding areas and maintain a clean work environment.
- Work with project managers, painters, carpenters, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
- Follow job-site safety procedures and company quality standards.
- Assist with material handling, setup, cleanup, and general construction tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a drywall finisher, taper, or similar construction role.
- Strong knowledge of drywall finishing techniques, including taping, mudding, sanding, patching, and skim coating.
- Ability to produce smooth, paint-ready finishes with strong attention to detail.
- Experience matching textures and repairing damaged drywall preferred.
- Proficiency with drywall tools, sanding equipment, mud pans, knives, trowels, and related equipment.
- Ability to read basic project instructions, layouts, and work orders.
- Reliable transportation and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Comfortable standing, bending, lifting, and working on ladders or stilts when needed.
- Knowledge of job-site safety practices is preferred.
