Forensic anthropology is a distinct subfield of biological anthropology that applies the techniques of osteology and biomechanics to questions in forensic science. It is a diverse and growing field of anthropology that has practical implications for criminal justice. Class topics include human osteology, crime scene investigation, search, recovery and taphonomy of human remains, laboratory analysis, postmortem interval (or time since death), trauma analysis (cause and manner of death), and the development and application of innovative and specialized techniques.
