Position Overview
Working under the Director of Finance and Operations, the Accountant oversees accounts receivable, accounts payable, ledger maintenance, and audit support. This position suits an expert dedicated to conventional accounting while advancing the use of digital solutions and process automation to enhance efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
Core Accounting and Operations:
- Prepares journal entries and ensures month end closing is completed within timelines given
- Reconciles general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Coordinates work papers and reconciliations for annual audit
- Manages accounts payable and company credit cards; prepares and distributes 1099s
- Prepares bank deposits and records and posts all bank transactions
- Ensures account receivable payments are timely and accurately posted; initial contact for collection of overdue student accounts receivable
- Manages business office petty cash, cafeteria, concessions & athletics petty cash
Education & Development Liaison:
- Collaborates with the development department to confirm donor contributions are recorded and monitored precisely.
- Verifies that all venue leasing deposits and incoming funds are documented correctly.
- Oversees billing associated with student dining programs and associated cafeteria billing.
- Acts as the lead liaison for tuition insurance, facilitating claim processes between parents and the carrier.
Process Optimization & Technology:
- Systems Optimization: Oversee the refinement and expansion of financial software platforms. Contribute to the detection of manual tasks that can be enhanced via standard software connectivity.
- Workflow Automation & Reporting: Employ application capabilities and foundational automation instruments to bolster productivity in managing invoices, classifying expenses, and performing bank reconciliations. Support administrators in the upkeep and revision of financial tracking tools and visual data metrics.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Professional Experience: Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, complemented by at least 3 years of practical accounting practice.
- Technology & Software: Skilled in ERP platforms, accounting modules, and Spreadsheets operations. Candidates with a curiosity for data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI are preferred.
- Digital Transformation Mindset: Proactive interest and knowledge in adopting modern financial tech and automation to streamline workflows and reduce manual labor.
- Foundational Knowledge: Analytical skills, problem-solving capacity, and a comprehensive grasp of ledger management and internal controls.
- Interpersonal Communication: Clarity in speech and writing; must maintain professional relationships with staff, families, and external partners.
- Personal Qualities: Unwavering integrity, focus on accuracy, and the versatility to succeed individually or within a team environment.
Salary range: $62,000 to $72,000
