General Laborer – Travel Crew

Overview
Stealth Underground is hiring General Laborers for our traveling underground utility crews. This role supports fiber optic and utility installation work across our expanding service area, including directional drilling, plow operations, conduit placement, and handhole installation. This is a travel position — crews work multi-day or multi-week rotations away from home base, with lodging and per diem provided. This is a year-round position, not seasonal, with overtime available as weather and project schedules allow. Ideal for someone who wants steady, physical outdoor work and doesn't mind being on the road.
Responsibilities
- Assist with directional drilling, plowing, trenching, and conduit installation on underground utility projects
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices per site-specific traffic control plans
- Load, unload, and transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites
- Dig, backfill, and compact trenches by hand or with small equipment as directed
- Install handholes, vaults, and related fiber/utility infrastructure components
- Follow all safety protocols, including trenching/excavation competent-person guidance and job hazard analyses
- Maintain a clean, organized job site and properly stage materials
- Travel to job sites across Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana as assigned, including extended stays
- Perform general labor duties as directed by the crew foreman
- Work overtime hours as needed and weather permits — this is a year-round role, not seasonal
Skills & Qualifications
- Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods (multi-day/week rotations)
- Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions, including lifting 50+ lbs, standing, bending, and digging for extended periods
- Valid driver's license (CDL a plus, not required)
- Prior construction, utility, or labor experience preferred but not required — willing to train
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and in active traffic control zones
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work as part of a crew
- OSHA 10/30 certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
