American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult, pediatric, and neonatal experience for a 13-week night shift contract at an acute care hospital with a Level III NICU.

Acute care hospital setting with a Level III NICU

Patient population includes adults, pediatrics, and neonates
-
Treatment load varies and may include multiple floors with treatments or ICU patients on ventilators and NIV
-
Ventilators used include Servo U, Hamilton G5, Hamilton T1 transport vent, Philips Respironics V60 BiPAP, and AirVo/MaxTech high flow heated systems

Charting via Epic (experience required)

12-hour night shifts
-
Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights)

Every other holiday required
-
No on-call requirements
-
Performs EKGs during off-hours (5pm–7am and all weekend, excluding the ER)

Does not perform PFTs — clinical RT duties only

Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience

Prior Level II or III NICU experience with ventilator management required

Experience with adult and pediatric floor care required

Must be able to intubate adults independently

RRT credential required; CRT accepted only if license was held prior to July 1, 2022

Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP, and RRT verification

Epic EMR experience required

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

License required if applicable

2 supervisor/peer references required, including 1 supervisor reference (supervisor reference must be from most recent perm facility if applicable)

Valid driver's license and copies of all certifications required for consideration
-
Responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment planning, oxygen and humidity therapy, airway management, mechanical ventilation, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, BiPAP, CPAP, nebulizer and inhaler administration, and ABG draws
-
Each RT is assigned to a specific area per shift (e.g., ER, ICU, 2nd floor)

Works under lead therapist per shift, with an RT manager overseeing daily operations Monday–Friday

Orientation consists of approximately three 12-hour shifts

Hospitalist or intensivist is in-house and pharmacy is available 24/7
-
Required scrub color is gray

Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered

Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for one cumulative year must also take a 2-year break before re-applying

All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
