Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a CDL Class A Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver and embark on an exciting journey across the country! In this role, you will operate tractor-trailers to transport freight efficiently and safely over long distances. Your expertise in driving various types of trucks, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks, will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission over long-distance routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit.
- Manage diverse types of freight including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and roll-off containers with precision.
- Plan routes effectively to optimize delivery schedules while accommodating customer requirements and road conditions.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with CDL Class A licenses for long-haul routes.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and handling various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload operations.
- Ability to navigate route driving efficiently while managing time effectively on the road.
- Experience with delivery driver responsibilities and maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Skillful use of equipment like forklifts for loading/unloading when required.
