Duties
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental examinations
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying fluoride treatments or sealants
- Maintain accurate medical records and document treatment details following HIPAA guidelines
- Use dental software systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting, scheduling, and record management
- Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment during all procedures
Experience
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments preferred
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document patient information
- Experience with pediatric dentistry, including working with children’s unique needs and behaviors
- Strong understanding of infection control standards, including sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform dental assisting tasks such as chairside support during various procedures
