What You'll Do
As a Driver Education Instructor, you'll help teens become safe, confident, and responsible drivers through both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Teach behind-the-wheel driving lessons using Top Driver's proven curriculum
- Lead engaging classroom sessions covering traffic laws, road signs, defensive driving techniques, and safe driving habits
- Coach students with patience and encouragement as they build confidence behind the wheel
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students succeed
- Maintain accurate student records, lesson documentation, and attendance
- Create a positive, professional, and safe learning environment for every student
What We're Looking For
Successful instructors are:
- Excellent communicators who enjoy teaching and mentoring others
- Patient, calm, and supportive under pressure
- Dependable, professional, and safety-focused
- Comfortable working with teenagers from a variety of backgrounds
- Able to adapt their teaching style to meet individual learning needs
- Organized and detail-oriented
Previous experience in education, coaching, training, customer service, or working with youth is a plus, but not required.
Schedule & Flexibility
We understand that flexibility matters. We work around your availability on a seasonal basis.
We currently have Full-Time (30+ hours/week) and Part-Time (10+ hours/week) opportunities available at our Northbrook classroom location.
A typical schedule includes a combination of:
- After-school hours
- Evenings
- Weekends
Sunday availability is a plus. Additional daytime hours are often available during the summer and school holiday breaks.

Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid Illinois driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
