Children’s Ministries Director
Part-Time (20 hours/week). Must be willing to work Sunday mornings and occasionally Sunday evenings. Some Travel for events, programs, and training is required, Pay Range: $20.00-$22.00/hour. Reports to the Senior Pastor and Staff Pastor Parish Relations Chair.
Summary: To lead the children’s ministries and shepherd the children in their spiritual growth, equip them with Bible knowledge and understanding to become committed disciples of Jesus Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
Discipleship and Teaching:
o Choose and implement a Bible based curriculum approved by the Senior Pastor for children, infant through 5th grade, with transition plans to help them grow spiritually from one developmental stage to the next.
o Teach children and mentor their families
o Organize and lead Children’s Church that occurs during Sunday service.
o Develop and implement other children’s programs and service projects.
· Leadership Development:
o Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers
o Participate in budge planning and grant writing for children’s ministries
· Event Planning and Execution:
o Plan and oversee events, fundraisers, service projects that promote spiritual growth and community.
o Coordinate outreach activities to engage with the local community and reach unchurched children.
o Utilize the church’s social media platforms to promote children’s events.
· Collaboration:
o Work closely with other church staff and ministry leaders to align children’s ministry with the overall mission and vision of the church.
o Participate in staff meetings, church events and contribute to the broader life of the church.
o Collaborate with Speedway UMC Child Care Ministry by promoting SUMC children’s ministries, programs, and their events.
o Attend Leadership Team meetings and Educational sessions such as symposiums as planned by SUMC.
· Qualifications:
o A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
o Passion for children’s ministry, with experience in teaching, mentoring, and leadership.
o Strong communication, organizational, time-management, relational and creativity skills.
o Ability to connect with and relate to children in a positive and energetic manner, understanding their unique challenges and needs. Ability to lead children in high energy activities.
o A degree in theology, ministry, or a related field, preferred.
o A degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education is a plus.
o Familiarity with Wesleyan/United Methodist theology preferred.
o Pass background check and complete trainings in compliance with Safe Sanctuaries regulations.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
