Job Summary
We are seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Marketing / Advertising Assistant to support Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad’s marketing efforts across print, digital, social media, events, and community outreach.
This position will assist with creating and coordinating advertising materials, social media content, flyers, rack cards, posters, email campaigns, promotions, event marketing, and seasonal campaigns. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with deadlines, tracking advertising projects, helping organize marketing calendars, and supporting the overall promotion of our train excursions, dining experiences, special events, history, scenic views, and bald eagle/nature experiences.
Duties
- Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive marketing campaigns across social media, email, web, and print channels.
- Assist in managing social media advertising campaigns on platforms such as Facebook, Google AdWords, and other digital channels to maximize engagement and conversions.
- Conduct web analytics reporting using tools like Google Analytics to measure campaign performance and inform data-driven decision making.
- Assist in managing marketing budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring content is delivered on time.
- Assist with communication with media outlets, tourism partners, and local businesses.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, basic computer and spreadsheet skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently while also taking direction.
- Experience with Canva, social media platforms, email marketing, advertising, graphic design, or tourism/hospitality marketing is helpful but not required.
- Experience with digital marketing platforms including Facebook Advertising, Google AdWords, and social media marketing strategies.
- Ability to create engaging content tailored for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in basic graphic design tasks.
- Knowledge of SEO techniques, web analytics reporting, and implementing marketing automation tools.
- Familiarity with WordPress, HTML basics, and website management to support content updates and web presence enhancements.
- Experience with multichannel marketing campaigns involving email marketing, social media advertising campaigns, and print advertising.
- Ability to analyze data from various sources like Google Analytics to optimize campaigns and inform strategic decisions.
This position requires someone who can help keep marketing projects organized, follow up on deadlines, assist with promotional ideas, and support the company’s overall goal of increasing ridership, brand awareness, group sales, and guest engagement.
