Haynes Law is seeking a part time/- remote Law Clerk (3L, LLM, JD, FLLM) to assist the attorney and staff in various legal tasks. Our practice focuses mainly on Bankruptcy, Tax, Civil cases; Civil law matters, consumer/small business debt, property disputes. etc. The ideal candidate should have either interest in or experience in bankruptcy or tax (by exposure from an internship, having taken a course, possess a basic understanding of Chapters 7 and 13 and 11 differences, or understand the various bankruptcy schedules) or, have an interest in learning and practicing bankruptcy and or tax in the future. Candidates who plan to sit for the current bar should consider whether they have adequate time for 21-24 hours per week. This job is virtual-After initial training in office; you will meet on your days of work via our "GOTO" meeting platform with the attorney and or other staff. You will be provided with an office computer and a business office phone. You must be comfortable with being assigned work, working via "video online" with attorney and or other staff, performing work with some degree of independence and reporting to Attorney during working hours.
Hours: 21-24 hours per week (part-time) Monday, Tuesday & Thursday (7-8 hrs. per day)
Pay: $21.00-$24.00 hourly depending on education and or experience.

Must have a Bachelor's Degree/ and 3L or JD, LLM, FLLM; or waiting on results from July 2026 Bar: Position is open to graduates who are retaking the bar.
Law Clerk - requires you to meet one of these requirements: currently enrolled as a 3L in an ABA-accredited law school or a law graduate (who possesses either a J.D., LL.B., LL.M. or FLLM)—PLEASE NOTE: candidates who have not attended law school will not be considered.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, excel, outlook, video conferencing, VOIP phone system, necessary and it helps to have familiarity with a bankruptcy filing system which can be learned on the job.
- Interest and ability to perform legal research - knowledge of court systems; interested in learning and in practicing law
- Quick-learner/ works independently/ personable and comfortable speaking with potential clients
- Has taken the (MPRE); Candidate must comply with the ethical standards required for any attorney/law candidate under the State Bar of Texas.
Duties will include but are not limited to: Answering Phones and speaking with Clients, Drafting and Preparing Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions; Tax documents, letters, pleadings for attorney review and filing using bankruptcy software, court filing system. Preparing motions for filing (motions to reopen case, answers to objections to discharge, etc.). Preparing reaffirmation agreements for filing.
- Drafting letters for clients or to opposing sides as directed by Attorney
- Ability to engage with clients professionally regarding their reason for seeking legal services.
- Other duties as assigned.
