We are seeking an experienced, bilingual immigration paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage immigration matters with professionalism and limited supervision.
Fluency in both English and Spanish is required. This position involves direct communication with Spanish-speaking clients, including interpreting for attorneys during consultations and meetings and handling incoming Spanish-language telephone calls.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, motions, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with family-based immigration, adjustment of status, consular processing, naturalization, removal defense, asylum, waivers, and other immigration matters.
- Draft client declarations, correspondence, cover letters, and routine legal documents.
- Gather, review, organize, and maintain client records and supporting evidence.
- Monitor case deadlines, filing requirements, court dates, biometrics appointments, and interviews.
- Communicate with clients regarding case status, required documentation, deadlines, and upcoming appointments.
- Interpret between English and Spanish during attorney consultations, client meetings, interviews, and case preparation.
- Answer and field telephone calls from Spanish-speaking clients and prospective clients.
- Translate written documents and correspondence between English and Spanish when needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete case files and update the firm’s case-management system.
- Coordinate filings and communications with USCIS, EOIR, ICE, the Department of State, and other government agencies.
- Provide administrative and case-management support to attorneys.
- Perform all other duties ordinarily associated with an immigration paralegal position.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working as an immigration paralegal is required.
- Professional fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required.
- Strong knowledge of immigration forms, filing procedures, and supporting-document requirements.
- Ability to interpret accurately and professionally between attorneys and clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Professional judgment and the ability to maintain strict client confidentiality.
- Experience with immigration case-management software is preferred.
