Opening: Inside Sales Representative
Location: Anchorage, AK
Pay: $70,000 - $80,000 DOE
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and customer focused Inside Sales Representative to join a local hardware business and support sales growth through customer service, product knowledge, and relationship building. This role will work directly with customers to understand their needs, provide product recommendations, prepare quotes, process orders, and follow up on sales opportunities. The ideal candidate is dependable, personable, and comfortable working in a fast paced environment while developing strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
- Respond to customer inquiries by phone, email, and in person
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
- Prepare accurate quotes, estimates, and sales proposals
- Follow up on quotes and open sales opportunities to help close business
- Process customer orders accurately and coordinate order fulfillment
- Develop repeat business through consistent customer service and follow-up
- Maintain knowledge of hardware, building materials, tools, and related products
- Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and other staff to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time
- Assist customers with product availability, pricing, lead times, and special orders
- Maintain accurate customer and sales information within company systems
- Help identify opportunities to increase sales and grow existing accounts
- Handle customer questions, concerns, and basic issue resolution in a professional manner
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional sales environment
Qualifications
- Previous inside sales, customer service, or related sales experience preferred
- Hardware, building materials, construction, or industry-related experience is a plus
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Confident and professional phone and email communication
- Ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products or solutions
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn internal sales and inventory systems
- Ability to manage multiple customers, quotes, and orders in a fast paced environment
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and desire to achieve sales goals
- Reliable, team focused, and willing to learn product and industry knowledge
Work Environment
- Primarily an indoor sales and office environment
- Regular interaction with customers, vendors, warehouse staff, and other team members
- May occasionally require walking through warehouse or yard areas
- May require occasional lifting or handling of products and materials
- Fast paced environment requiring the ability to prioritize multiple customer needs
