USD #440 is comprised of two small towns, Halstead and Bentley. Bentley is home to Bentley Primary School, servicing grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Halstead is home to Halstead Middle School, grades 4th through 8th, and Halstead High School, grades 9th through 12th.
Halstead is a city of approximately 2000 people located in south central Kansas. Wichita is located about 25 minutes away. Halstead has a golf course, swimming pool, downtown businesses, and beautiful parks. The town of Bentley located 8 miles south of Halstead in Sedgwick County. It is a small, rural community with about 400 residents. The commute to Wichita is about 15 minutes
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the grounds, including lawns, gardens, and landscapes
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, and edging
- Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and trees
- Irrigate plants and lawns as needed
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform various groundskeeping tasks
- Remove weeds, leaves, and debris from the grounds
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of outdoor events
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment
Skills:
- Knowledge of groundskeeping techniques and practices
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for landscaping tasks
- Ability to operate irrigation systems effectively
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a neat and organized appearance of the grounds
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks such as lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors
